By ANDREW DRUMMOND

VOLUNTEERS will today converge on Coomonderry Swamp near Gerringong to carry out environmental conservation work.

The 670ha freshwater wetland is the largest on the South Coast and a major target of the Conservation Volunteers Australia Revive our Wetlands project.

Members of the University of Sydney Volunteer Association and public volunteers will conduct weed removal, weed mapping and revegetation works to maintain the area's rare coastal dune forest.

The swamp, found within the Seven Mile Beach National Park, is home to a range of species.

Wetland conservation projects are held each month in the area and volunteers are welcome. Information: call Conservation Volunteers Australia on 4228 9246.
